The Department of 土壤 and Water Systems combines faculty in soil science, 农学, 水文, 沉积物运移, irrigation engineering, waste management and 精准农业 to address resource issues related to soil, water quality and quantity and sustainable food, energy and waste systems.

Students in these programs work with professors who actively conduct 研究 on a variety of topics and customize their programs based on 研究 interests.

The range of expertise among 土壤 and Water Systems faculty provides students with a diverse experience. Specialty areas include 水文, 精准农业, 侵蚀, 遥感, 流域管理, value-added products from waste, agricultural mechanics, ecosystem sustainability, 生物地球化学, plant and soil microbe interactions, water quality and quantity, drought monitoring and forecasting, nutrient and livestock waste management, environmental soil chemistry and microbial ecology.

教师 support Idaho’s producers through a variety of 扩展 programs, events and publications. 研究 is conducted on the Moscow campus and at U of I 研究 and 扩展 Centers in Idaho Falls, 帕尔玛, 金伯利, Twin Falls and Aberdeen and affiliate centers in Sandpoint and Rupert.
